Smell Sensitive

I am smell sensitive. I am sensitive to perfumes and lotions that have an over-powering air, so much so that I will get a headache. In fact, I can't even wear perfume, because I'll give myself a headache.

This is especially evident when ladies apply more of the pretty, smelly stuff before they work out. That wonderful odeur (to others, not me) gets multiplied when we workout. What I end up doing is moving to different spots in class to get away from the smell.

Now, this is particularly difficult to do when I am in a cycling class, trapped on a bike, with someone's Eau de Chanel wafting through my nostrils, invading my sinuses, and leaving me with a headache.

So, the next time you apply your perfumes etc, be kind....k?

Much appreciated.....

I'm with you on this. I don't wear perfume either because I can't stand the smell. I mean I haven't found any I like yet. Besides, I would never think to put on perfume "before" a workout since it's going to get mixed with sweat. If you're going to use it, save it for later I say. :D

I slathered Alfred Sung all over myself this morning and was just thinking "Man, I smell GOOD!"

I guess smell is subjective? I hope you can't smell me from there...lol!

You could ask management to post a sign asking the ladies to refrain from wearing perfume. I think this would be a perfectly reasonable request. You aren't the only person I know who gets headaches from such scents. And who the hell wears perfume before a workout? (as Az said). This reminds me of a short-lived membership at a fitness club years ago in Montreal. I stopped going for two reasons. 1) The place got so crowded you could barely do your floor exercises; 2) the trim bunnies in their 80s spandex, matching leg warmers and headbands, and FULL MAKEUP just made me ill. Have a great weekend!

all....it's too bad that scent can't be controlled everywhere. The gym is one of the predominant places, but it has happened at oh so many other places...like when you're trapped in a car with someone who has just too much on, stuck sitting near someone in a movie theatre, and there's nowhere else to sit....and I coul dgo on, but I think I am going to go to bed now.

ciao y'all

Even a random overpowering scent as someone goes past you on a sidewalk! I've heard such complaints. Rom was guilty of over-fragrancing - used to make Alex almost ill.

i suppose you could just avoid people altogether.

again, it's the scent that causes me grief...that scent could come from a house, a person, a candle, a car....whatever...

glad it makes one think though
