I know this will not make some people happy, but I have been receiving spam comments lately. For the next while, I have enabled Word Verification (sorry
Skittles bear with me), and I am also moderating comments (just like my
SIL). I hate having to do this, but I don't like people playing in my yard like that.

You don't really need word verification if you moderate comments. Sorry to hear you're getting spam, though.
I can't say I blame you one bit for going that route! I hate the spam - I also hate the word verifications too sometimes but they are -sad to say - a necessary evil in cyberspace I do believe.
I'm gonna pass on the "favorite eating places" meme - got caught with it about two weeks ago (started with your SIL I do believe - LOL) cause I just don't go out to eat often enough to think of places that are really neat. My favorite really is the "church's potluck dinners" though!
I dislike the spam thing greatly so I can't say as I blame you at all if you use the word verification to eliminate that. I'm not a big fan of the word verification either but I can abide it a lot better than I can the SPAM!
BTW - I'm going to pass on the "Favorite Food Places" MEME - just did that about a week to ten days ago and I don't get out often enough to know of other places that I used to like to go eat anymore! But, the Church potluck dinners are still my favorite "dining out" places or events! A veritable smorgasbjord you know!

How annoying for you. I'm fortunate that Wordpress is pretty good at weeding out the spam comments and places them elsewhere so I can go check them to make sure there's no "real" comments.
