The MASGBLOG Book Club

Welcome to the MASGBLOG Book Club. I finished the book that I was reading. Not that I am keeping tally or anything, but my summertime reading includes a total of three books. The recent book was titled Past Secrets by Cathy Kelly. It was a romance novel, of sorts, and although I am not into romance novels, I was drawn into the cover information. It's not a keeper for me, and I have a friend who I know will enjoy this book.

Here is a list (which should take me well into the next century) of other books waiting in the wings: (I haven't decided which one to read yet, although Everyone Worth Knowing is crawling its way to the front of the pack).....
Fall On Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald (thanks Oprah's Book Club)
Everyone Worth Knowing by Lauren Weisberger (author of The Devil Wears Prada)
Until I Find You by Irving Wallace
The Book of Ruth by Jane Hamilton (thanks Oprah's Book Club)
Mercy Among the Children by David Adams Richards (received the Giller Prize)
Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson
A Million Little Pieces by James Frey (again....Oprah)
The Mineral Palace by Heidi Julavits
Mister Fabulous and Friends by Celia Brayfield
Icy Sparks by Gwyn Hyman Rubio (another Oprah)
Mother of Pearl by Melinda Haynes (Oprah)

A couple years ago I started a (short-lived) book swap with some bloggers. I also sent 2 books to Florida this summer. A third is waiting for a taker, but I can see you're full up. :)

If The Devil Wears Prada is any indication, I would not bother to read Weisberger's other book on your list.

The book swap is a great idea. The books on this list have been there for awhile, but I am going to get to them this time.

p.s. - I already started Everyone Worth Knowing, and so far so good. I'll pass on my review when done, but will keep the caution about The Devil Wears Prada....thx!

What's the third book?

I think a blogger book club is a brilliant idea (and consequently, imagine that, like all other brilliant ideas, it's already been done... but so what!). Since I never seem to find any time to read ANYTHING these days (blogs included, unfortunately), I'll let you start us off with Everyone Worth Knowing.

I've got Scandalmonger on my bedside table (alongside about 12 others, but that's the book of choice at the mo), but I've not read a single page yet. It looks REALLY good though.

I don't think I'll be picking up that James Frey book -- too much publicity so I'm expecting it will not live up to its hype.

jmai - Thank you for visiting my blog. Too cool.

I am getting into Everyone Worth Knowing. It's not very heavy reading, and if I get through it, I can add another 'ticky' on the list.

I'll check out Scandalmonger as well. Send a mini review (if you ever get through it).
